If when detained by any US authority your belongings were seized, the Consulate and/or the local office can help you in the process of recovering your belongings and sending them to the person of your choosing, either in Mexico or in the United States. This only can be made in a period of 30 days after the date of the seizure.

It is very important to keep the claim receipt number that the authority will give you after the detention, since it confirms your belongings were seized and you will need it in order to recover.
